Air Traffic Controllers Suspend Protest Over Colleague’s Death

The Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) has suspended its two-day protest over the death of one of its members, Aniekan Effiong Inuk.

Naija News reports that the air controllers embarked on “flow control” to protest the death of Inuk, who died while on duty at the Nnamdi Azikwe International airport, Abuja on Monday.

It stated the protest will run from November 23 till 24 to register their displeasure over the lack of poor working conditions.

The statement disclosed that nine members of the association have died on duty due to poor working conditions and inadequate staffing in the last two years.

NACTA, however, asked the relevant authorities in the aviation industry to quickly ensure that some of its demands are met within two weeks.

But in an interview with The PUNCH on Wednesday, NATCA President, Abayomi Agoro, said the protest has been suspended following the intervention of relevant authorities.

Agoro disclosed that the association would be meeting with the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Musa Nuhu today.

He submitted that the meeting would hold by 2pm in Abuja and the outcome would determine the next line of action.

In other news, a former aide to former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Reno Omokri has taken to social media to react to the arrest saga of former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode.

Naija News had reported earlier that Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, November 23 arrested FFK.

In a post via his social media page on Wednesday, Omokri mocked Fani-Kayode for claiming that he was not arrested by the EFCC but was only invited.
