President Muhammadu Buhari has been condemned by a pan-Igbo socio-cultural organization, Nzuko Ndigbo, over his comment when Igbo leaders visited him at the State House Abuja, demanding the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Naija News had earlier reported that the President during the visit of the Igbo leaders had stated that he would consider Kanu’s release.

Buhari was visited by some Southeast leaders under the aegis of Highly Respected Igbo Greats, led by First Republic parliamentarian and Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi.

Amachi while placing their demand before the president, charge him to release the IPOB leader, rather than opt for military actions.

Nzuko Ndigbo while reacting to the comment of Buhari in a statement released through its spokesman, Edomobi Promise, said the President is not doing any favour to Ndigbo by the promise but doing what he is supposed to do.

According to Nzuko Ndigbo, there was no reason for the Federal Government to arrest Kanu in the manner it did, it demanded for the trial of everyone involved in his abduction from Kenya.

The Nzuko Ndigbo warn against people visiting the President on behalf of Ndigbo without discussing with anybody.

The group charged President Buhari to focus his target on the killer herdsmen, bandits and Boko Haram and not Kanu and Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho.

According to the Nzuko Ndigbo, “Let Buhari release and apologize to Nnamdi Kanu for unlawful kidnapping by the federal government”.

The IPOB leader is facing treasonable felony charges filed against him by the Nigerian government before Justice Binta Murtala Nyako-led Federal High Court in Abuja.
