A military officer has been killed by unknown gunmen in Imo State following an attack on some soldiers in Awo Mmamma in the Oru East Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the military men in reprisal invaded the community and allegedly burnt a hotel, cars, houses and shops.

The incident has seen residents of the affected community flee as soldiers took over the community.

A source that spoke with Punch on the incident said, “some hoodlums attacked some soldiers at Ishieke junction in Awo Mmamma and killed one of them. They zoomed off towards Ihiala in Anambra State. Later soldiers invaded the area and caused havoc in the area by setting a hotel, cars, houses and stalls on fire.”

As of the time of filing this report the military is yet to release a statement on the incident.

In another development, a video has been released by Boko Haram terrorists showing four men kidnapped from different communities in the North-East region of Nigeria.

The victims in a video posted online stated their names, their place of work, the date they were kidnapped, and the location where they were abducted.

One of the victims who spoke in the video, Zakaria Azirkime, disclosed that he works with UNICEF and was abducted on the Maiduguri-Damboa road.

Two others victims noted that the terrorists abducted them between Buratai and Buni Yadi, while the fourth victim disclosed that he is a staff of the Federal Road Safety Corps.
