CAN Knocks US Govt For Removing Nigeria From Religious Violators List

The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed concern over the data or statistics used by the US government in arriving at delisting Nigeria from the list of ‘Countries of Particular Concern’ on the issue of freedom of religion.

Naija News reports that in a statement released by the US State Department, the US announced it has placed China, Russia among the list of such countries with Nigeria missing.

Recall that the former administration of President Donald Trump had placed Nigeria among countries that clampdown on freedom of religion.

Reacting in a statement on Saturday, CAN President, Samson Ayokunle, wondered what statistics was used to place and remove Nigeria from the list.

2023: Fashola Reveals When Tinubu Will Declare For Presidency

The former Governor of Lagos State and Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has charged Nigerians to wait till January 2022 for the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu to declare his presidential interest or not.

Fashola stated this while speaking on Channels Tv on Friday night.

The APC National Leader has been spotted on posters and billboards in Lagos state and Abuja amidst rumours of his presidential ambition.

Though Tinubu has not declared his intention to take over power from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023, there have been calls by groups in the country charging him to contest.

Expect COVID-19 Fourth Wave In December – Lagos Govt Tells Nigerians

The Lagos State Government has asked Nigerians to expect the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country in December.

Naija News reports that the State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, made this known at a press conference on Friday.

The commissioner said as Nigerians prepare to celebrate Christmas and New Year celebrations, more passengers would come into the country from high-burden countries.

Stating that the influx of passengers into the country might increase the spread of the virus and open residents to more risk.

Former Imo Deputy Governor’s Father Kidnapped

Unknown gunmen have abducted the traditional ruler of Ezi Mbieri community in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, HRH Eze Henry Madumere.

Naija News gathered that the monarch is also the father of the former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Madumere.

Madumere was said to have been kidnapped on Friday during an invasion of Iho community in the Ikeduru Local government Area of the State.

The traditional ruler was a renowned businessman, contractor and member of the Nigerian Independence Choir.

Release Our Son Immediately, Nnmadi Kanu’s Family Tells Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to release the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

The family of the IPOB leader made this known on Friday while reacting to the visit of an Igbo delegation to the President at State House, Abuja.

Speaking to Vanguard, Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, asked Buhari to heed the request of the Igbo leaders and release the IPOB leader.

Kanu stated that the unconditional release of his elder brother will serve as a mark of respect for the Igbo nation and begin the process of national healing and reconciliation.

2023: National Assembly Forwards Electoral Bill To Buhari For Assent

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the National Assembly has forwarded the electoral act amendment bill to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent.

Naija News reports that Senate President Ahmad Lawan made this known in a statement issued by his aide, Babajide Omoworare, on Friday.

He disclosed that the electoral bill was transmitted to the president on Friday in line with Section 58 (3) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and the Acts Authentication Act Cap. A2 LFN 2004.

Biden To Meet Buhari, Other African Leaders In 2022

U.S. President Joe Biden is set to host President Muhamamdu Buhari and other African leaders at a US-Africa Leaders Summit in 2022.

A statement released by the White House on Friday said the summit will be the second edition after the first summit was hosted by President Barack Obama in 2014.

The statement stated that the summit will focus on building partnerships and alliances between the United States and the African continent.

It added that the summit will focus on strengthening relations with African partners based on principles of mutual respect and shared interests and values.

Aliko Dangote Narrates How His Brother Sani Died

The President, Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has narrated how his brother, Sani Dangote died.

Naija News had reported earlier that the Vice-President of the Dangote group died of an undisclosed illness at a hospital in the United States last Sunday.

The deceased was subsequently laid to rest on Wednesday at the Alhassan Dantata family cemetery in Koki quarters (Sarari) of Kano metropolis.

Dangote who spoke of his brother’s death while receiving 2023 presidential hopeful and the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, at their (Dangote’s family house) in Kano, said it was so painful he had to watch Sani die in his presence.

According to Nigeria’s richest man, himself, their mother and Sani’s wife and children were all present to witness their beloved last breathe, an experience he described as tormenting.

Davido Donates N250m To Orphanages Across Nigeria [Video]

Nigerian singer, David Adeleke better known as Davido, has donated two hundred and fifty million naira to orphanages across the country.

Naija News reports Davido hit more than two hundred million naira in donations in two days from his friends to clear his Rolls Royce from the port.

This came after the singer took to his social media account to call on his friends and colleagues to raise the sum of 100 million Naira for him to clear his Rolls Royce at the port ahead of his birthday.

The singer’s whose birthday is on November 21 has received donations from music stars, actors, politicians, businessmen, traditional rulers among others.

Biafra: Ohanaeze Youths Demand Release Of Nnamdi Kanu, Others

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths have demanded the unconditional release of the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement on Saturday released by its National Publicity Secretary, Chika Art Adiele, the group also called for the release of other detained Igbos across various detention facilities in the country.

Adiele submitted that the immediate release of the detainees will guarantee sustained peace in the South Eastern region. He noted that these are some of the resolutions approved at the emergency National Executive Council meeting on Friday.
