Buhari Mourns Death Of CPM General Overseer, Rev'd Obiora Ezekiel

The death of the General Overseer of Christian Pentecostal Mission International, Rev’d Obiora Ezekiel has attracted a reaction from President Muhammadu Buhari.

The President in a statement on Sunday by his special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina prayed to God to console the wife, family of the deceased clergyman as well as the entire Christian body.

It will be recalled that the demise of the Lagos-based clergy was confirmed in a statement released earlier on Sunday by the Church’s coordinator, Rev’d John Ezeh.

Ezeh said before his demise a few days ago, Rev’d Ezekiel, who is survived by his wife and children, had urged his members to keep the vision alive and the fire burning.

Reacting to the death of the popular clergyman, President Buhari recalled the works and efforts of the pastor in spreading the gospel both within and outside Nigeria.

The statement reads: “President Muhammadu Buhari condoles with family of the Founder and General Overseer of Christian Pentecostal Mission International, Rev Obiora Ezekiel, over the passing of the clergy, joining the entire congregation and Christian community in mourning.

“President Buhari believes the religious leader demonstrated love, peace and joy in pursuing his passion for soul winning, and worked assiduously for the growth and spread of the gospel within and outside Nigeria, holding outreaches.

“The President notes the General Overseer’s role in raising many spiritual sons, who have also moved on to mentor pastors, evangelists, and teachers, commending his vision for founding the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).

“President Buhari urges prayers for the family of the departed, particularly his wife and spiritual partner, Rev. Dr Mercy Ezekiel, praying that the Almighty God will receive the soul of the renowned evangelist.”
