Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has commended Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, for supporting orphanage homes with donations he received for his birthday.
Naija News recalls that Davido had a few days to his 29th birthday received donations in millions from his friends and associates.
This was after the musician requested his friends to each send at least a million naira to him for his birthday.
Within a few hours of his request, Davido received funds to the tune of two hundred million naira.
Subsequently, the musician publicly announced his decision to donate the received amount with an addition of fifty million from his account to orphanage homes across the country.
“You rise by lifting others”, Davido said committing the funds to the beneficiaries.
Reacting to the singer’s gesture, Atiku Abubakar via a post on his official Facebook page on Sunday morning, commended Davido for “making the lifting of others a cornerstone”.
“Dear Davido, thank you for making the lifting of others, a cornerstone of your endeavour.
“I join your family and friends and millions of your fans in wishing you a memorable birthday.
“I wish you more years in good health, more award-winning music and, above all, lifting others”, Abubakar added.
