A former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has identified Africa as a region where ‘miracles can happen.’

The former Nigerian leader made the submission while speaking on the economic and business potentials countries on the African continent can bring to reality by working together.

He, therefore, called for a special ‘Made-in-Africa’ brand that can boost the trade between African countries and grow into exporting to other continents.

Obasanjo was quoted to have made the observation and submission on Thursday in Durban, South Africa during a session at the International African Trade Fair 2021.

According to him, having a ‘Made-in-Africa’ brand will remove the divisions that were brought about by colonialism and make them enjoy the full benefits of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement.

He said: “Having a ‘Made-in-Africa’ brand will instill a sense of pride in each African country.

“The African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement is working to remove the divisions that were brought about by colonialism, where Africa was divided into regions based on the languages of the colonizers.”

“I have been impressed by the interaction of people at the IATF. People are working together, and this creates the environment in which miracles can happen,” Obasanjo added.

Meanwhile, presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina has accused former Nigerian leaders, Ibrahim Babangida, Sani Abacha and Olusegun Obasanjo of destroying the Nigerian Army.

The presidential media aide claimed that the military regime of General Babangida and Abacha made the Nigerian Army unprofessional, while the Obasanjo administration was also complicit in misusing the military.

Adesina made his view known in an opinion article titled “NO LONGER ‘AN ARMY OF ANYTHING GOES”, which he released on his Facebook page on Thursday evening.

He submitted that since President Muhammadu Buhari came into power, the Army has become a professional institution and has returned to its glory days.
