Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has received the reports on police brutality cases and the Lekki shooting investigation from the state judicial panel.

Naija News reports that the governor received the two reports from the Chairperson of the panel, Justice Doris Okuwobi (rtd). at the State Secretariat in Ikeja on Monday.

Speaking after receiving the report, Sanwo-Olu stated that the report will be submitted to the National Economic Council (NEC), chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

He asserted that the recommendations made by the panel in the reports would be considered and implemented to forestall cases of police brutality in the state and the country in general.

The governor, however, commended members of the panel for the work done, adding that posterity will be kind to them.

He said: “I’m believing and trusting that this process will help us start the very difficult process of proper reconciliation, restitution, bringing together of anyone that must have been one form or the other being affected.

“By either the police or any of our citizens that must have been wronged by one form or the other, the process of healing, I imagine, with the submission of this panel report, will start that process.”

After receiving the report, Sanwo-Olu constituted a four-member committee to come up with a white paper on the panel’s recommendations.

The committee, headed by the Commissioner for Justice and the State Attorney-General, Moyosore Onigbanjo, was given two weeks to submit its assignment.
