A 36-year-old man has been taken into custody by the Enugu police for allegedly murdering his son and using him for rituals.
The man, identified as Chidi Onyishi of Taylor Avenue, Coal Camp, Enugu allegedly killed his seven-year-old son, Chimdalu Chidi, and reported him missing to the police on 22/10/2021.
After series of investigations were conducted by the police, the assailant later confessed to murdering his son, revealing that a 95 years old blind pastor by the name Okeke Eneokwor had helped in committing the crime.
Onyishi later led the police and a medical team to a stream in Abakpa-Nike, Enugu where he buried his son on October 20, 2021. after murdering him.
The spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, corroborated the incident and revealed that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Abubakar Lawal, has ordered the Enugu state CID to conduct a thorough investigation that will lead to the prosecution of all those involved in the dire incident.
Ndukwe also appealed to the residents of the state to be vigilant and report any suspicious incident to the nearest police station.
In other news, an identified Boko Haram member, Abdulsalam Adinoyi, has been sentenced to death by hanging by a High Court in Ekiti State.
Naija News reports that Adinoyi was arrested in 2017 after attacking and robbing a police sergeant, Gana Jiya, and other police officers at a checkpoint in Oye Ekiti.
Following the attack, the police sergeant was killed on the spot while other officers on duty sustained severe gunshot wounds.
According to the police in the state, Adinoyi stole two AK-47 rifles and launched a “terrorist attack” on the people of Ekiti state and its environs between December 22, 2016, and March 20, 2017.
The police, however, arraigned the suspect on a five-count charge bordering on armed robbery, murder, terrorism, and unlawful possession of firearms.
The police stated that Adinoyi confessed that members of his group named Abu Uwais and Aminu (a.k.a. Idi-Amin), now at large, were planning an attack on the police before he was arrested and ammunition recovered from his house. Read more
