Live Updates: Anambra Governorship Supplementary Election In Ihiala LGA

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is concluding the Anambra State Governorship Election today Tuesday, November 9th, 2021.

INEC had announced the postponement of the governorship election in Ihiala Local Government Area over alleged irregularities discovered in most communities in the council area.

Florence Obi, the vice-chancellor of the University of Calabar and Returning Officer, while declaring the election inconclusive said “It becomes imperative to bring elections from Ihiala with other LG before valid declaration can be made,”

Before the suspension of the election, APGA’s Charles Soludo had won 18 out of the 21 local government in the state.

While PDP’s Valentine Ozigbo and YPP’s Ifeanyi Ubah won one local government each.

Electoral materials where distributed late by INEC to polling units.

Naija News reports that the supplementary election is underway in most polling unit.

Election yet to commence despite INEC scheduling the supplementary election for 10am to 4pm.

Some voters are seen gathered in Abobot Girls Secondary School, Uzokwa Ward 3 where we have about 20 PUs.

Security operatives have beefed up security at the Ihiala Local Government secretariat ahead of the election.

Some election materials are yet to be distributed.
