Anambra Election: PDP, APGA In Early Battle As Supplementary Elections Results Start Coming In

The results of the supplementary governorship polls in the 2021 Anambra governorship election have started trickling in.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the November 6 governorship election in the state inconclusive.

The Returning Officer for the Gubernatorial Election, Professor Florence Obi made the announcement at the INEC head office in Awka, Anambra capital.

Obi disclosed that the election was declared inconclusive over alleged irregularities discovered in most communities in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state.

She declared that the election process remains suspended until after a supplementary election is held in all the polling units in the area.

The vice-chancellor of the University of Calabar, however, announced that the supplementary election has been scheduled to hold today, November 9, 2021.

The supplementary polls kicked off as scheduled on Tuesday and as earlier communicated by INEC, voting is planned to end by 4pm, and sorting and counting are now in progress.

According to the results already declared as at press time, PDP has polled 38 votes while APGA follows closely with 33 votes.
