#AnambraDecides: INEC Extends Voting Time, Says All Votes Will Count

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has extended the ongoing Anambra State Governorship elections voting time to 4pm.

Naija News understands that the extension was necessary due to the delay experienced at several polling units as a result of malfunctioning BVAS

INEC has called for patience, assuring that no voter would be disenfranchised and all votes would count.

Anambra Decides: IPOB Has Proven It’s Not A Terrorist Organisation – Doyin Okupe

Former Presidential aide, Doyin Okupe, on Friday stated that the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra has proved that it is not a terrorist group following its decision to cancel the sit-at-home order that could have affected the governorship election in Anambra State.

Okupe in a post on his Facebook account noted that it was time for President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to negotiate with IPOB and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

‘Callous Attack’ – Buhari Reacts As ISWAP Kills 69 Persons In Niger Republic

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the killing of 69 people in Niger Republic by the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) insurgents as a “dastardly and callous act”.

In a statement on Friday issued by his media aide, Garba Shehu, the Nigerian leader expressed deep sadness over the incident, adding that the killing of innocent citizens calls for serious concern.

President Buhari added that the killing which happened on Niger Republic’s border with Mali and Burkina Faso, was a disturbing setback to the regional efforts to stem terrorism.

Anambra Decides: INEC Reveals When Election Results Will Be Available On Its Portal

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured Nigerians that it will display the results of the Anambra governorship election on its portal.

It however urged them to exercise patience as results can only be uploaded after they are manually counted and collated at the polling units.

The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, Rotimi Oyekanmi made this known on Saturday while explaining that the INEC portal is purely a result-viewing platform and members of the public should not expect any other thing from it.

NBA Threatens Malami Over Justice Odili’s Home Invasion

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has threatened to punish the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) over the recent invasion of the Abuja home of Supreme Court Judge, Justice Mary Odili, by security operatives.

Addressing reporters in Lagos on Friday, NBA President, Olumide Akpata, said the minister can be barred from practising law and stripped of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) if found culpable of giving the directive that led to the invasion.

Akpata pointed out that Malami can be dragged before the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee ( LPDC), the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) and the Body of Benchers can reconsider his life membership.

The rumour that Mr. Biodun Oyebanji has emerged as the anointed candidate to become the next governor of Ekiti State has been described as ‘gutter politics.’

Reports from certain political quarters had suggested that Governor Kayode Fayemi and his wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi had anointed Oyebanji to become the next Governor of Ekiti State.

Three Dead, Many Injured As Explosion Rocks Abuja Market

At least three persons have been reported dead and many others injured during a massive explosion at the Kubwa village market in Abuja.

Naija News understands that the explosion, which happened around 7:00 pm on Friday evening, was caused by adulterated kerosene from a tanker near the main market.

It was learned that properties worth millions of naira were destroyed during the explosion which consumed two shops and other roadside stores.

The Gombe State Government has reacted to the attack on the convoy of the former governor of the state, Senator Danjuma Goje.

Naija News had reported that some political thugs attacked the Gombe Central Senator as he was about to enter the state capital for a personal engagement on Friday.

Goje’s vehicles were attacked with dangerous weapons and bonfires were set on the main road to prevent the Senator from entering into the state.

Declare Bandits As Terrorists – House Of Rep Charges Buhari Again

President Muhammadu Buhari has been charged again by the House of Representatives Committee on Army to declare bandits terrorists to aid the Nigerian Army to fully clamp down on them.

The call was made on Friday by the Chairman of the committee, Abdulrazak Namdas, when the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya, appeared before the committee to defend the 2022 proposed budget.

This is the second time the committee will be reaching out to the president to declare bandit terrorizing the northern region of Nigeria as a terrorist group.

Ikoyi Building Collapse: Corpses Ready For Identification

Lagos State has announced that bodies recovered from the collapsed Ikoyi building are now ready for identification.

The Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, revealed this to newsmen at the site of the collapsed building.

He stated that the bodies were made available in the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH), Yaba and an autopsy will be carried out on them before releasing them to their families.
