Kidnapper's House Demolition in Niger State

A twin flat allegedly owned by a suspected kidnapper in Niger State has been destroyed by the state authority.

The building located at Yikangbe, a suburb of Minna, the state capital is said to have been occupied by the suspect and his family members.

Naija News reports the Niger State Government confirmed the demolition in a statement released on Saturday by the Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Mary Noel Berje.

According to Berje, “One of the flats was said to have been occupied by the suspect and his family members while the other flat was yet to be completed.”

The action was taken a few days after the State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello frowned at the incessant killings in the state which he has described as senseless.

According to Bello, killings in some communities in the state are partly caused by the inability of the government to adequately punish those flagrantly taking laws into their hands.

Governor Bello stressed that gruesome killings have lingered because there haven’t been appropriate punitive sanctions on those found culpable.

The governor stated this while inaugurating an eight-man judicial commission of inquiry into the recent killings in Mazakuka, Addogon Malam, Kulho and other communities in the Mashegu Local Government Area of the state.

He said: “We must be able to do the right thing. Those taking laws into their hands must be seen to face justice to prevent others from executing similar senseless acts and ensure that it does not occur again in future.”

Governor Bello tasked the commission to exercise justice and fairness and do a thorough investigation and inquiry, stressing that those found guilty must face punitive measures by the provisions of the law.
