Ade-Ojo Speaks On Selling Collapsed Building Land To Osinbajo

The founder of Elizade Motors and Elizade University, Michael Ade-Ojo, has reacted to the report claiming that he sold the land of the Ikoyi collapsed building to Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

The 21-story building which collapsed on Monday has led to the death of 32 persons according to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Sanwo-Olu while addressing newsmen on Thursday said the record available to the state government shows that 32 persons have been confirmed dead as opposed to 36 which was reported by the National Emergency Management Agency.

Meanwhile, Ade-Ojo in a statement he released on Thursday disclosed that he own the land adjacent to the property on Gerald Road, distancing himself from the report by an online medium (Saharareporters) that he sold the land where the collapsed building was built.

He further stated that even though he owns the next property to the collapsed building, he has no intention of selling it.

According to Ade-Ojo, he did not sell the land to Osinbajo shortly after he became Vice President.

Ade-Ojo in a statement released said, “It has come to my attention that a publication by the online news website, Sahara Reporters is in circulation, claiming that I owned the land on which the high-life building in Ikoyi that collapsed earlier this week, was built.

“The story titled “Photo Proof: Osinbajo bought the Ikoyi collapsed building@ published on November 4, 2021, also claimed that I sold the land to the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, shortly after he became Vice President.

“Both claims are outrightly falsehoods. I hereby state that I do not own and never held title to the said property.

“In addition, I did not sell any land to the vice President at anytime whatsoever.

“To be clear, I own a property next to the said building, which I have not sold and do not intend to sell to anyone.”
