Police React To RCCG Pastor’s Killing, Issues Fresh Directive To Ogun Churches

The Lagos State Police Command has reacted to the clash between some policemen and commercial tricycle operators, popularly known as Keke Napep, around Ile-Iwe bus-stop, Command in Ipaja.

Naija News gathered that the clash, which occurred on Thursday morning, started when a tricycle operator refused to allegedly bribe some policeman who mounted a checkpoint in the area.

It was said that the tricyclist was convening passengers when he was stopped by police officers, who asked him for N50 bribe. Following a disagreement, a police officer reportedly stabbed the operator in the chest, killing him on the spot.

But in an interview with Channels TV, the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, confirmed the clash between the two parties.

Odumosu stated that the policeman and the Keke Napep operator seriously stabbed each other during the clash and are in critical condition.

He denied reports of shooting at the scene, saying that he has ordered the mobilisation of more patrol teams to the area and normalcy has since returned.

The Police boss, however, said that he is awaiting a further report from the scene for police to commence a proper in-depth investigation that will reveal what actually caused the clash.
