Gunmen Reportedly Kidnap Customs Officer, Assistant Police Inspector, Others In Niger
Some yet to be known gunmen reportedly stormed the Kwamba area in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State on Thursday and whisked away no fewer than four persons.
Reports reaching Naija News at this time claimed that those kidnapped in the Thursday morning attack include a customs officer, his wife, a woman Assistant Inspector of Police and another woman.
No group has yet claimed the kidnapping and no contact has been made for any demand to secure the release of the victims.
Reports, however, gathered that the assailants arrived in the community in their numbers and headed straight to the house of the customs officer, picked him up and his wife and made away with some valuable items from the house.
According to ThisDay, the gunmen after raiding the customs officer’s residence went to the house of the female Assistant Inspector of Police where she was abducted too.
How and where the fourth victim was kidnapped, however, could not be ascertained at the time the report was given.
Naija News understands the recent attack is the second within one week in the area.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Monday Bala Kuyars, who was contacted on the phone confirmed that he was informed of the incident.
Kuyarus said: “I know four people were kidnapped.”
However, he could not confirm the identities of the victims. The police boss said he wasn’t sure if the abductees are policewomen and customs officials.
“All I know is that four people were kidnapped,” Kuyarus maintained.
Meanwhile, unknown gunmen have kidnapped a former General Manager of the Nigeria Port Authority, NPA, Bashir M Abdullahi.
Details of Abdullahi’s abduction are still sketchy at the time of filing in this report but Naija News gathered that the former NPA boss was kidnapped from his farm located at Sumaila Local Area of Kano State Wednesday afternoon.
It was gathered that the gunmen whisked away the retired officials while he was inspecting his farm in Sitti village of Sumaila Local Government Area of Kano.
