Ogun Amotekun Explains Why They Shot At Young Man In Their Custody

Ogun State chapter of the Southwest Security Network popularly known as Amotekun, has apprehended two suspected ritualists with a lifeless human body.

Reports made available to newsmen by the command said the two suspects were nabbed on Monday in Ijebu-Igbo area of the state.

The State Commander of the local security corps, CP David Akinremi (rtd), confirmed in the report that the suspects were caught following a tip-off by some residents who sighted them carrying a casket in the middle of the night.

Explaining further, Akinremi said his officers acted swiftly upon receiving the tip-off and stormed the scene where they had eventually saw one Dare Banjo, who is an herbalist.

The officers reportedly discovered the said casket in Banjo’s house oozing out offensive odour.

Naija News understands that a lifeless human body with the head already severed was found in the casket. The body was said to be that of a male victim of ritual killing by the herbalist and his accomplices.

Akinremi disclosed that the herbalist and one of his accomplices, Toheeb Talubi, have been handed over to state command of the Nigeria Police.

He said the duo had confessed during investigation that the corpse was for money rituals.

The Amotekun corps statement reads: “At about 8pm yesterday, November 1st, 2021, Amotekun operatives in Ijebu Igbo received an information that some persons were sighted bringing in a casket into a house in Fara area of the town. The operatives quickly mobilized to the scene and on arrival, they discovered that the building is the residence of one Dare Banjo, who is a herbalist.

“A casket was seen at a corner of a room in the house and the stench from the casket triggered suspicion.

“The herbalist, Dare Banjo was then asked to open the casket. Behold, inside the casket was a dismembered corpse, without head, of a suspected male victim of ritual killing by the herbalist and his cohorts.

“Hence the said Dare Banjo and his accomplice named Toheeb Talubi ‘m’ were immediately arrested.

“The two suspects who confirmed the corpse was for money rituals have been handed over to the Police for further investigation,” Akinremi explained in a statement.
