‘Nasty Court Process’ – Malami Releases Statement On Justice Mary Odili’s Abuja Residence Raid (Full Text)

The Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami has denied any involvement in the raid by security operatives on the Abuja residence of Justice Mary Odili.

The AGF in a statement on Saturday through his media aide, Umar Gwandu said his principal or the Federal Ministry of Justice has no role in the raid which took place on Friday.

He described the process that culminated in the issuance of a search warrant used during the raid as a ‘nasty court process’ emphasizing that no way could he have played any role in such a sham.

National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke has opened up on how the union moved against the Federal Government’s plan to increase school fees of all university students to N1m.

Speaking while fielding questions from participants at a one-day ‘State of the Nation summit’ organized by the Bauchi zone of ASUU, he disclosed that the government presented the planned hike in fees during the last negotiation with the union

Naija News reports that he had during this summit expressed the resolve of ASUU to take steps towards stopping the political elite from sending their children to study abroad when their parents are partly responsible for the rot in the Nigerian education sector.

2023: Former Senate President Joins Presidential Race

A former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim has declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election.

Anyim made his intentions known on Saturday while speaking with newsmen, adding that he will be seeking the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, zoning will not affect his resolve to seek the PDP presidential ticket.

He argued that the zoning the PDP did only has to do with the elective offices at the party’s national convention and not for the 2023 general polls.

ISWAP Reportedly Orders Military Uniforms From Libya Ahead Of December Planned Attacks

The dreaded terrorists of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) have reportedly procured fake military uniforms from Libya.

Reports had it that the uniforms were been ordered for ahead of planned attacks in Nigeria by the group.

A commander of the dreaded group had allegedly disclosed that the materials would be used during December festive period, Naija News understands.

Eons Intelligence reports that uniforms were procured by one Ibrahim Maidogon Kwana in Kusri, Cameroon.

Kwana and his boys are said to be plotting to move the items into Nigerian territory in boats through border communities.

FG Announces New Deadline For NIN-SIM Linkage

The federal government on Saturday, announced an extension of the deadline for Nigerians to link their National Identity Numbers (NIN) with the Subscribers Identity Module (SIM) cards.

The previous extension granted by the government was due to expire on the 31st of October 2021 but has again been extended.

The new extension urged Nigerians to get the linkage done “before the end of the year 2021.”

Former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Ababakar has revealed that in his 70 years plus existence, Nigeria has never been as bad as it is under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, on Saturday said it is not easy keeping the Peoples Democratic Party united.

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, says the agency has no hand in the raid on Mary Odili’s house, disclosing that the Commission laughed over such report.

Security operatives had on Friday conducted a search on the Abuja home of Mary Odili,who is a Justice of the Supreme Court. She is the wife of a former governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili, who is currently on the watchlist of the EFCC.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Bawa said “mischief makers” want to put the EFCC at loggerheads with the judiciary.

Former Lawmaker, Effiong Released After 55 Days In Captivity

The former lawmaker representing Eket Senatorial district, Nelson Effiong has been released after spending fifty-five days in kidnappers’ den.

Recall that unknown gunmen on September 5, 2021 abducted Effiong in his lounge at Oron road, Uyo, the state capital.

It is not certain if the family of the former lawmaker paid ransom, even though his abductors had allegedly demanded a ransom of N200 Million.

The spokesman of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom, Sampson Enyongekere in a statement released on Saturday said Effiong was released on Friday.
