1. Bandits Reportedly Kill 20 Security Operatives, Burn Their Corpses In Zamfara

No fewer than twenty personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC have been reportedly killed in Zamfara State.

Reports reaching Naija News today has it that the security operatives were murdered and their corpses set ablaze in Shinkafi Local Government Area of the State.

The deadly sects reportedly attacked the security operatives dispatched to a village where they (the terrorists) have dominated for a long time without any security stoppage.

2. Presidency Speaks On Buhari Escaping Plane Crash In US

The Presidency has described as ridiculous, a report that President Muhammadu Buhari escaped a plane crash after the Presidential Jet developed a mechanical fault.

Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, made this known on Friday at the public presentation of a book, “101 fake news on EndSARS” in Abuja.

Sahara Reporters had reported that the President and his entourage narrowly escaped a plane crash while returning to Nigeria from the United States, where he participated at the 76th United Nations General Assembly.

The report added that the plane which developed a fault, landed at Sable Island Airport around 5:24 pm and had a 3-hour stopover.

3. Sabbatical In Partisan Politics – Saraki Reacts As Dele Momodu Returns To PDP

Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki has welcomed media mogul, Chief Dele Momodu back to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Saraki in a post on his official Facebook page on Friday said Momodu has been on sabbatical from partisan politics but now that he has returned, he hopes to work with him to rebuild the PDP and meet the aspiration of Nigerians.

Naija News recalls Chief Momodu, a former Presidential candidate has officially joined the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

4. Wike Describes Secondus As An Enemy Of PDP

The suspended National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, has been described by the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike as an enemy of the party.

Wike while reacting to the appeal court ruling on secondus’ move to halt the convention of the party, noted that no individual can stop the main opposition party from its mission to rescue Nigeria.

The Governor’s Special Assistant on Media, Kevin Ebiri, quoted Wike as saying that Secondus’ attempt to scuttle the PDP national convention makes him an enemy of the party.

5. Secondus Reacts To Appeal Court Ruling, Reveals Next Move

The suspended National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has reacted to the ruling of the Appeal Court rejecting his request to stop the party’s National Convention.

Naija News earlier reported that the Appellate Court had on Friday struck out a suit filed by Secondus against the party’s scheduled national convention has been struck out on Friday.

Secondus in challenging his removal from office, had approached the Appeal Court, Port Harcourt judicial division, demanding it to restrain the PDP from holding its 2021 National Convention which had been scheduled for October 30 and 31.

But in a judgement delivered on the suit by a three-member panel, Justice Gabriel Kolawale said the court unanimously dismissed the application for lacking in merit.

6. 3rd Term Agenda: President Buhari Speaks From Saudi Arabia, Reveals When He Plans To Leave Office

President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to abide by the country’s constitution and avoid any form of tenure extension beyond May 29, 2023.

The President reiterated his commitment on Friday when he warned those touting the possibility of a third-term agenda for him to put an end to such plans.

Buhari in a statement released by his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu said he swore to Nigerians by the Holy Quran and the constitution and has no plan whatsoever to renege on the oath.

7. Appeal Court Takes Final Decision In Secondus Versus PDP Case

A suit filed by the suspended National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Uche Secondus against the party’s scheduled national convention has been struck out on Friday.

Secondus in challenging his removal from office, had approached the Appeal Court, Port Harcourt judicial division, demanding it to restrain the PDP from holding its 2021 National Convention which had been scheduled for October 30 and 31.

He also wanted the court to grant him the powers to preside over the convention whenever it will hold.

But the appellate court dismissed the suit in its ruling on Friday, clearing the coast for the conduct of the PDP National Convention billed to take place at the Eagle Square in Abuja, the nation’s capital city.

8. EFCC Speaks On Raiding Justice Odili’s Abuja Residence

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has refuted media reports that its operatives invaded the Abuja home of Supreme Court Judge, Justice Mary Odili.

Naija News learnt that some security operatives on Friday afternoon reportedly stormed the Maitama home of the Supreme Court Judge in Abuja.

The operatives were said to have gone to the judge’s home to execute a search warrant as part of investigations into her husband, Peter Odili, who is a former Governor of Rivers State.

Some sections of the media reported that the raid was carried out by EFCC operatives but in a statement by its spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, the anti-graft agency described the raid reports by its operatives as false as it did not carry out any operation at the home of Justice Odili.

9. 2023: North Sets Conditions For Northerners Seeking To Become ‘President With Our Votes’

As the race for the 2023 presidential election heats up, leaders and youth from northern Nigeria have warned political parties against fielding aged, incompetent, or incapable candidates, warning that the North will turn its back on any party that deliberately and specifically tilts advantages to candidates from certain regions.

They stressed that the next President can be from any part of the country, and must be the President for all Nigerians, stressing that those Northerners aspiring to become the next President must know that Northern Elders Forum, Coalition of Northern Groups, and many other groups in the region.

Naija News reports that the spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed stated this yesterday during the Maitama Sule Leadership Lecture Series organized by the Students Wing of Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) Borno State chapter.

10. 2023: Jega, Agbakoba, Utomi To Launch New Opposition Party Against APC, PDP In November

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP will soon seize to be called Nigeria’s main opposition party as a new political party is about to be launched in November 2021.

According to the National Consultative Front (NCFront) co-chairperson, Prof Pat Utomi, he would be meeting with former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega and the Olisa Agbakoba (SAN)-led National Political Coalition on Electoral Reforms to discuss way further on it’s a political movement initiated on October 1.

Naija News understands that the NCFront in a statement made available to news on Friday revealed that plans have been completed to launch a credible alternative mega ideological party to conquer the two major political parties in the country in the 2023 presidential election.
