The candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in the November 6 Anambra governorship election, Obiora Okonkwo, has disclosed why he cried during a campaign in Okpoko community, Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking during the flag-off construction of a multi million naira road project in the area on Wednesday, Okonkwo said he wept because of the hardship the residents of the area are passing through.

The ZLP candidate blamed the state government for failing to impact the well being of the people, thereby subjecting them to untold hardship.

Okonkwo said he was particularly touched when he saw a nursing mother, named, Amarachi Nwachukwu, who fell into a ditch and could not pass through the bad road.

However, the Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines gave Nwachukwu the sum of N200,000 to start up a business of her own and to take care of her family.

He said: ”We saw the woman fell possibly as a result of starvation and we bought food for her. When we discovered that she couldn’t eat, we fed her and the child by our self. We also raised 200,000 through my foundation for her to start a petty business.

“This is the condition of people of the state. If we had not come here, we wouldn’t know that that there are people created by God and who live in penury under the leadership of this current administration. Some people cannot afford a meal. If this incident can happen before us, that means there are thousands of others who are languishing in poverty in the neighborhood.

“The APGA administration has gone so bad in the state. No matter how much campaign they indulge in, 16 years is enough to have turned Anambra into a modern state.
