A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has condemned prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, for asking the Federal Government not to declare bandits as terrorists.
Naija News recall that the Islamic cleric had said that Nigeria would disintegrate if the Nigerian government tag bandits as terrorists.
In a post on his Facebook page on Monday, Gumi stated that the actions of bandits in the Northwest which has seen innocent people killed is tantamount to terrorism.
He, however, said the moment bandits are declared terrorists, the direct foreign Jihadist movements will set in force, and many unemployed youths may find it palatable and attractive.
However, in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday, Fani-Kayode described Gumi as a terrorist in disguise and a sympathiser of bandits.
Fani-Kayode added that the Islamic cleric is worse than the slain leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, and the head of ISWAP in West Africa, Al-Barnawi.
He wrote: “Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, the Rasputin of Arewa, whose father once said a Christian must not rule Nigeria & who himself said the FG must not declare the killer bandits as terrorists is worse than Abubakar Shekau & Al Barnawi. He is a venomous snake & a wolf in sheep’s clothing.”
