Suspected vandal electrocuted in Kano

A yet to be identified man has been killed while vandalizing electricity power cables in Kano State.

Reports had it that the vandal was electrocuted while carrying out the punishable act in Dawanau, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano.

Naija News understands that the deceased and his accomplices had raided a Kano Electricity Distribution Company transformer located along Dawanau-Dawakin Tofa road, the outskirts of Kano metropolis and attempted to get away with the power cables.

Karma, however, caught up with the suspect as he was electrocuted to death while cutting the cables.

Confirming the incident in a statement released hours ago, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, Head, Corporate Communications, Kano Electricity Distribution Company said the deceased and his friends were inside the transformer house cutting cables at midnight when suddenly power was restored.

The statement read, “A vandal decided to vandalize Yadin Dawanau transformers in the middle of the night, but unfortunately, service was brought back which resulted in the death of one of the vandals.”

Naija News understands that the remains of the unidentified vandal had been retrieved from the transformer and deposited at one of the hospitals.

Meanwhile, gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed six persons and kidnapped many others during an attack in Unguwar Samanja village, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Naija News learned that the gunmen stormed the village on motorcycles around 5:49 pm on Sunday when residents were observing the morning prayer and operated for many hours unchecked.

It was learned that the gunmen started shooting sporadically, resulting in the death of the victims.
