Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State was conspicuously missing despite being in Lagos as Southwest governors paid a former Lagos State Governor and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a visit.

Naija News reports that Fayemi had earlier attended a meeting of the forum hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos State Government House, Marina.

Speaking to newsmen during to Tinubu’s residence at Bordillion in Ikoyi, Lagos State, on Tuesday, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu stated that the former governor is capable of leading Nigeria.

While describing Tinubu as the leader of the Southwest, Akeredolu said the national leader of the APC is doing his best for the region.

According to Akeredolu, Southwest governors believe in the leadership of Bola Tinubu.

He stated that the governors were on a pilgrimage to Tinubu as the former Lagos governor’s house has turned to a Mecca.

Akeredolu said: “We held the Southwest Governors’ Forum meeting.

“After the meeting, we deemed it fit to come over and visit our leader who has returned home successfully and who is hale and hearty.

“We have come to show our love for him and thank God on his behalf.

“He has been receiving visitors here. This place has turned into Mecca. We are here as part of the pilgrims.

“The National Leader of APC remains one. Most of us in the Southwest believe in his leadership and it shows that he’s doing his best to lead us.

“He is not only the leader of the Southwest but also the National leader of the APC in Nigeria.

“But we in the Southwest first lay claim to him as our leader.”

Naija News reports that governors at Tinubu’s residence include: Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo) and Rauf Olaniyan (Oyo deputy governor).
