The lawmaker said it is scarier that a fortified correctional centre as such could be attacked by hoodlums in broad daylight.

He said: “The jailbreak of Correctional Service Centre, Abolongo, Oyo, Oyo state on Friday, 22nd of October 2021 remains condemned. For gunmen to stage such deadly attack that freed inmates of the centre and resulted in the death of a soldier and another officer of Amotekun was the peak of occurrence of insecurity in Oyo state if a fortified institution like the correctional centre could be breached in a broad daylight by now-at-large gunmen,”

Naija News reports that Buhari expressed his concerns about the jailbreak in a post on his Facebook page.

The senator urged security agencies in the state to add up in their games to ensure that all escaped prisoners are arrested and returned back to the centre to avoid escalation of criminal activities in the state.

Buhari added: “The security implication of this jailbreak is enormous as criminals who are serving jail terms or awaiting trials have found their way back to society and could continue in their criminal acts. I am worried about this.

“I, therefore, charge all our security agencies to intensify their manhunt for these escaped prisoners and leave no stone unturned in their bids to arrest the criminals that staged the prison break.

“The government should as a matter of urgency put in place measures to forestall the recurrence of this criminal act and others in all our public institutions and the country at large.

“Security is said to be everybody’s responsibility. At this time, I enjoy residence of our dear state, Oyo state, to collaborate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious individual or group found around. This will hasten the restoration of peace and order.”
