The first lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari, on Wednesday, charged the media to stop ignoring the wives of Governors.

The wife of President Muhammadu Buhari stated this in Abuja at an event that saw some first ladies honoured.

The first lady of Nigeria who was the special guest of honour at the event was represented by her spokesman, Aliyu Abdullahi.

Aisha in her statement commended the wives of state Governors for assisting women, the elderly, the poor, and the less-privileged.

She said, “I call on media practitioners to engage more with first ladies so that their projects can get more visibility.

“The partnership will be a win-win because the media would have discharged a part of its social responsibility.”

This is coming after former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, asked President Muhammadu Buhari and governors on what basis should the Office of First Lady exist, describing budgetary allocation for the Office as an unnecessary expenditure that should be channeled into something worthwhile.

Naija News reports that Obi stated this on Tuesday as a guest speaker at the 8th Annual Foursquare Gospel Church in Lagos, which was organized to raise public consciousness on pressing issues in the polity to find solutions.
