Ilemakin Soyinka, son of Nobel Laureate and playwright, Wole Soyinka, has denied reports claiming that his father is dead.

Naija News gathered that since last week, social media has been awash with reports that the Nobel Laureate had died.

One such report was posted on a Twitter account supposedly belonging to the winner of the 2021 Nobel prize for literature, Abdulrazak Gurna.

The tweet, which has now been deleted, had attracted numerous comments from users, while some expressed their condolences to the Soyinka family.

But in an interview with TheCable, Ilemakin Soyinka said his father is alive, urging the general public to disregard the rumours.

The rumour has been going around since last week. Soyinka is alive when last I checked,” he said.

In other news, the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections, Peter Obi, on Monday revealed how he made his money before becoming the governor of Anambra State.

Obi further said he did not violate any law, before, during and after his tenure as the governor of Anambra State.

This is coming at the time the former Governor was accused in a report by Pandora Papers of setting up and operating businesses overseas, including notorious tax and secrecy havens in the ways that breached Nigerian laws.

Obi, however, during an interview on Arise TV on Monday said he ran a planned market management company before becoming a governor.
