ICPC Re-Arraigns Buhari’s Ex-Aide Over Result Falsification, Forgery, Others

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned President Muhammadu Buhari’s former aide Okoi Obono-Obla on charges of result forgery and falsification.

Obono-Obla allegedly submitted forged O-level results while processing his admission into the University of Jos.

He was later arraigned on Monday in a Plateau state High Court on a 10 count charge which involved forgery, falsification of results, and also corruption allegations.

The charges against him were initially brought forth in the Federal High Court in Abuja on July 1 2020 by the ICPC but were later withdrawn.

The commission later filed the 10 count charge again in FCT High Court on July 8, 2020, against Obono-Obla, his former Senior Assistant, Special Duties (Protocol), Aliyu Ibrahim, and Daniel Omughele Efe, Managing Director of ABR Global Petroleum Resources Ltd.

On March 4, 2021, out of the 10 count charges, five were dropped which included two charges of result forgery and falsification and also three other corruption counts.

Obono-Obla was arraigned on the remaining five-count which he pleaded not guilty to on March 17.

He also pleaded not guilty on Monday and was granted bail of N1 million with a surety.
