2023: Atiku Candidacy Is Putting A Sharp Knife On Things - Joe Igbokwe

An aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, has berated the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for setting his ancestral home on fire.

Naija News had reported that unknown gunmen suspected to be IPOB members burn down Igbokwe’s house in Nnewi, Anambra State.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain also accused the pro-Biafra group of being behind the incident.

Speaking to PUNCH on Thursday, Igbokwe described the outlawed group as “a bunch of criminals that have dealt a debilitating blow on Southeast.”

The APC stalwart claimed that IPOB members do not have properties in the South East, adding that their activities are costing the region billions every day.

They are just a bunch of criminals that have dealt a debilitating blow on Southeast. These are people that don’t have any pin anywhere in the Southeast. All they are visiting the Southeast is destruction. Their activities are costing the Southeast billions every day,” Igbokwe said.

Narrating how his house was attacked, he said: “Before they came to my house, they went to about five locations in Nnewi. They went to the house of the former minister of planning and budget, they went to Nnewi Police Command, they went to Road Safety office, then DSS office, and then to my house.

“As they were moving to my house, they were shooting people down. Unfortunately, three people went down, including a third-year medical student in Nnewi.”

Earlier, Igbokwe had claimed that IPOB supports the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and started its agitation after the opposition lost the 2015 election to the APC.

While lambasting IPOB, the governor’s aide stated that the pro-Biafra group is going about their agitation for a referendum in the wrong manner.

Backing his reason why he said IPOB supports PDP, Igbokwe pointed out that IPOB decided to start its agitations after Goodluck Jonathan lost the 2015 presidential election to Muhammadu Buhari.

According to him, the PDP remains the only political party currently campaigning in Anambra ahead of the November 6 governorship poll while other parties are allegedly being attacked.
