An aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, has stated that anyone from Igbo extraction cannot be trusted to be Nigeria’s president.

Speaking in an interview with PUNCH on Thursday, he said nobody would be willing to vote someone who may use that position to divide Nigeria.

The controversial government aide however admitted that the Southeast geopolitical zone has suffered a lot of injustice.

According to the APC chieftain, Igbos are always giving the least of any thing that is shared in the country.

Joe Igbokwe called on the Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government to create one for state for the Southeast region.

He stated that this will give the southeast six states just like other regions in the country.

He noted that despite the “injustices”, violent agitations and killings were not the best way to press for justice, equity and fairness.

States currently in the southeast zone are Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Abia and Ebonyi.

Naija News reports that as the 2023 election draws nearer there have been calls for the two major political parties – All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party – to zone their presidential ticket to the south.

Some individuals have even called on the parties to micro-zone it to the southeast region.
