DPDP Crisis: No NWC Members Will Be Investigated - Orbihan Orbih

The Southsouth Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih, has been reportedly suspended from the party.

Naija News gathered that the  former chairman of PDP in Edo State was suspended for anti-party activities by the Edo North Senatorial Leadership of the party.

The Edo North leadership had earlier passed a vote of ‘no confidence’ on him.

Also suspended from the party is the State Secretary of the party, Hilary Otsu.

Other suspended executives include the State PDP Vice Chairman, Edo North, Segun Saiki and 5 Local Government Area (LGA) party chairmen.

The Edo North leaders had said: “Having x-rayed recent developments in the state chapter of the PDP in Edo State it has become imperative to save our great party from imminent collapse and instill discipline in the hierarchy.

“We also view with serious concerns all the moves by Chief Dan Orbih, the Senatorial Chairman and the 5 Party Chairmen from Akoko-Edo, Etsako Central, Etsako East, Owan East and Owan West to truncate all efforts being made by Mr. Governor to have a harmonized party structure across the State. it is no longer secret that Chief Dan Orbih who had earlier sponsored some persons to go to court against the leader of the Party

As leaders of the party from the zone, we view this as an act of gross misconduct and, a violation of the party’s constitution and by extension, an act of antiparty activities.

“In view of the above, a vote of no confidence and suspension was passed on Chief Dan Orbih, the State Secretary of the PDP, Senatorial Chairman and the 5 PDP LGA Chairmen in Edo North.”

The Edo PDP has been embroiled in crisis since the defection of Governor Godwin Obaseki to the party in 2020.

According to reports, the crisis rocking the party has heightened following the refusal of the state leadership to accommodate Obaseki’s supporters who defected to the party from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Sources had revealed that Governor Obaseki had delayed naming his cabinet in a bid to get the state PDP to absolve his supporters from the APC.

Rumours had recently emerges that some party leaders led by Chief Dan Orbih had asked the State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, to resign before former APC members will be fully admitted.
