Hoodlums Set Kano-Bound Train Ablaze In Kwara

A train said to be heading to Kano from Lagos State has been set ablaze by yet to be identified hoodlums.

Reports obtained by Naija News revealed that the train was set on fire at the Offa Railway Station in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday.

Though no casualty was recorded in the incident, reports revealed that the train had a stop-over for repairs at the Offa Railway station when it was attacked by the unknown assailants.

Confirming the occurrence to newsmen earlier, Head of Media and Publicity of Kwara Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, said two of the 15 coaches of the train conveying goods were completely burnt by the fire.

“The incident occurred about 5.17 pm at Offa Railway Station in Offa, Kwara State. Out of the 15 coaches contained by the affected train, two were burnt due to the rigorous efforts made by firefighters,” he stated.

Adekunle said that the Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Falade Olumuyiwa, appealed to the public not to hesitate to call fire brigade on time whenever there is any fire emergency in their area as this would save lives and properties.

In another news, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has been troubled to visit the scene where a tree had fallen and rose again in Oyo town, Naija News reports.

According to reports, the tree which is popularly called Igi Odan trapped at least four people on Monday night. However, while residents were still mourning their beloved ones, the tree reportedly rose up before sunset the following morning.
