In 2018, a then sitting governor of Minnesota, Mark Dayton, set aside 6th Octoberof every year as World Wizkid’s Day.

This came after the 31-year-old singer became the first artist to sell out the Skyway Theatre in the state.

Ever since, Nigerian Afrobeats pop music star, Ibrahim Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, is celebrated on the 6th of October across the world.

Here’s a list of the 5 several historic feats achieved by the artiste across the World.

1, The Ojuelegba young star became the youngest African artiste to clinch his first- Grammy Award-winning after Beyonce’s “Brown Skin Girl ” wins Best Music Video. 

Naija News reports Wizkid was awarded for his effort in Brown Skin Girl by Beyonce, Blue Ivy, and St John which is from Beyonce’s Lion King: The Gift album. The Brown Skin Girl won the Best Music Video category in the 63rd Grammy Award ceremony.

2, In August of 2021, Grammy-winning artiste, Wizkid made history as the first African to sell out the O2 Arena tickets within 12 minutes ahead of his Made In Lagos tour which is slated for November 28. The afrobeat giant joins stars like Beyonce, Rihanna, and some other artists who had attained such a feat. He is also the first African Pop Star to perform and sell-out Royal Albert Hall In London.

3, In June 2018, Wizkid became the first Nigerian artiste to walk down the runway for fashion giants Dolce & Gabbana in Milan.

The singer donned a gorgeous black jacket with gold elements, a studded white T-shirt, black pants with golden flowers, sparkly shoes and a bedazzled face.

4,  Nigerian singer, Wizkid is the only singer to have performed at a royal wedding at Umaid Bhawan Palace, India. The royal couple had tied the knot and had specially requested the presence of the Starboy at their wedding to perform for them.

It is gathered that the Indian royal family had paid a whopping sum of 50 million Rupees to have Wizkid perform. The money translates to an equivalent of $681,200 and shockingly N245.9 million.

5, Wizkid is the first Afro-Pop artiste who had top American stars such as A$AP Rocky, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Kevin Hart, Wiz Khalia and Ben Simmons attended a Wizkid concert at Los Angeles.
