Gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped Sakina Bello, a 300-level student of Botany at Bayero University Kano (BUK).

It was learned that the 23-year-old left home around 3pm on Tuesday and was abducted inside a commercial tricycle along Janbulo and Rijiyar Zaki area of Kano metropolis.

A source said the kidnappers had called her brother around 9pm and demanded N100million ransom for her release.

She left home around 3pm on Tuesday and could not come back until this moment. She was supposed to go to Janbulo from our house in Rjiyar Zaki.

“They called her elder brother around 9pm and informed him that she is their den and that they will call back on Wednesday. And the next they do is to demand N100million ransom,” the source said.

In an interview with Daily Trust, spokesman for Kano Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the abduction.

He said the police have started investigating the matter immediately, adding that the command is putting more effort to ensure she is traced and reunite with her family.
