A truck reportedly loaded with iron rods has crushed to death a final year student of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture (MOUAU), Umudike, Abia State.

The victim is identified as Chidinma Ogbonna. Naija News learnt the horrible incident happened on Sunday evening, October 3, in Umudike.

A source who testified to the disturbing event claimed the driver of the truck had lost control of the wheels after a brake failure.

Meanwhile, some students of the varsity blamed the accident on bad roads.

Meanwhile, a student of the College of Health Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University has reportedly died after she was hit by a stray bullet from unknown assailants.

Naija News learnt that the young lady identified as Chioma Mbionu was a 300 level Medical Rehabilitation student at the varsity.

Reports confirmed that Mbionu was struck by a stray bullet fired by gunmen during the attack on security facilities in Nnewi on Sunday, October 3.

A source alleged that she was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital Nnewi where she later died after she was not attended to as doctors are currently on strike.

In another news earlier, the National Association of Nigeria Students, NANS, has condemned in its totality series of attacks on the country’s educational systems.

Addressing the spate of insecurity in the country in a statement made available to newsmen during the weekend, the President of the association, Sunday Asefon, said the attack on education in Nigeria is the strongest threat to nationhood.
