What Ohanaeze Said About Dr Akunyili’s Assassination

Apex Igbo organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has condemned the murder of Dr Chike Akunyili, the husband of late Director General Of NAFDAC, Dora Akunyili.

The group made this known in a statement on Wednesday signed by its Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro.

Naija News had earlier reported that gunmen had killed Dr Akunyili at Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Tuesday evening.

It was gathered that Dr Akunyili had earlier visited the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA) for an event before he was murdered.

Reacting, Ohanaeze described Akunyili’s gruesome murder as atrocious, horrendous, unacceptable, and barbaric.

The group said President Muhammadu Buhari might use the pretence of the proclamation of the southeast as a RED ZONE to declare a state of emergency in Anambra state.

The group, however, urged Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to book.

“The slaughter of Dr. Chike Akunyili, the husband of late Prof Dora Akunyili is atrocious, horrendous, unacceptable, and barbaric.

“Governor Willie Obiano should ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime and murder are brought to face the consequences of their actions before the laws of the land.

“FG might use the pretence of the proclamation of the southeast as a RED ZONE to declare a state of emergency in Anambra state before the Anambra Guber elections,” the statement reads in part.
