Niger Gov’t Slashes IBBUL Tuition Fees

Niger State government has slashed the tuition fees for Students of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, IBBUL.

The development is contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane.

Matane who spoke in Minna, the state capital today on behalf of the State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, explained that reduction is with an exception.

He said the downward review only affects returning students (indigene) from N50,000 to N46,000 and new students (indigenes) from N95,000 to N86,000.

The SSG explained further that the decision of the governor came after listening to representations from members of the State House of Assembly, different stakeholders, including the Students’ union.

However, according to the governor,” the tuition fees for non-indigenous students (returning), new students (non-indigene), new foreign students and returning foreign students remain unchanged.

In another news, the management of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State has threatened that any student convicted of indecent dressing on campus will be punished with rustication.

The decision was taken by the Senate of the institution as made known in a statement by the school Registrar, Olugbenga Arajulu.

The statement warned that moral standards must be upheld in the school and any student found wanting of the ‘sin’ of indecent dressing faces rustication from the school for a semester as punishment.

The statement from the school authorities conveying their decision was contained in a circular signed by the Registrar with reference number AD/ REG/CIR/58/VOL. VI/309.
