Buhari Departs New York For Nigeria [Photos]

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday departed New York for Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.

The President arrived the United States last Sunday ahead of the 76th United Nations General Assembly, held at the world body’s headquarters.

He is expected to arrive Nigeria on Monday.

Nnamdi Kanu: IPOB Declares Sit-At-Home On Independence Day, Ban Nigerian Flag In Southeast

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has declared October 1, a day that marks Nigeria’s independence from Britain, a sit-at-home.

Naija News reports that this was made known on Saturday in a statement by the groups spokesperson, Emma Powerful.

The outlawed pro-Biafra group also placed a ban on the Nigerian flag across the South-East zone of the country.

A former Governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa has called for a political solution to the separatist agitation in the South-East, adding that governors from the region cannot stop the sit-at-home order being enforced by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)

He called on the government of President Muhammadu Buhari to hold a dialogue not just with South-East elders, but with the youths as well since they are the main people who enforce the actions of IPOB, not the elders.

Naija News had reported that Buhari held a closed-door meeting with the leadership and elders of the South-East when he recently visited Imo State. Aside the host, Governor Hope Uzodimma, the meeting was also attended by the Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, and the Abia State Deputy Governor, Ude Okechukwu.

Seven Soldiers, Four Vigilantes Killed As ISWAP Ambushes Military Convoy In Borno

No fewer than seven gallant Nigerian soldiers have been reportedly killed by the terrorists of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Reports reaching Naija News at this time confirmed that at least four local vigilantes were also killed by the terror group at the Marte-Dikwa axis of Borno State.

The terrorists are said to have ambushed a military convoy travelling to Maiduguri from Marte on Thursday.

An IED planted on the road by the ISWAP terrorists reportedly blew up one of the military vehicles which are said to be escorting soldiers that were granted leave pass from Marte unit.

Amaechi Alleges What Politicians Who Benefited From Jonathan Government Are Now Doing

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has stated that politicians who benefited from the Goodluck Jonathan government and other past governments are the ones now fanning the embers of ethnicity.

Amaechi, who spoke yesterday as a guest lecturer at the Annual Public Lecture of the Department of Economics at the University of Lagos, identified ethnicity as a big challenge to development in Nigeria.

“Ethnicity is not the way to go. Those who fan the embers of ethnicity are those who were benefitting from the government in the past, but are no longer benefitting from the government,” he said.

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has on a thankful note, revealed how the United States government has helped in the fight against terrorism.

Buhari in his submission revealed that Nigeria’s fight against terrorism has received tremendous support from the American government.

He made the submission on Friday in New York when he met with the Permanent Representative of America to the United Nations, Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield.

President Buhari highlighted the Super Tucano fighter jets sold to Nigeria by the USA and several trainings aimed at boosting the capacity of the military in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria.

The former New Media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has been accused of collecting money to stage a protest against President Muhammadu Buhari.

Naija News reports that President Buhari’s appearance at the United Nations General Assembly, UNGA, was met by massive protests by different groups.

In a statement to newsmen on Friday in Lagos on Friday, the National Youth Coalition accused Omokri of collecting Lthe sum of $10 million from opposition members and some foreign ‘enemies to ‘blackmail’ Buhari.

Yakasai Reveals Which Region Might Produce APC Presidential Candidate

A former aide to the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, has noted that the ruling All Progressives Congress might not hand over its presidential ticket to a candidate from the Southeast in the 2023 general election.

Yakasai said the party might prefer a presidential candidate from the south-south part of the country.

He added that this would happen if the southwest fails to clinch the ticket of the ruling party.

Boko Haram: Buhari Govt Speaks On Releasing Terrorism Financiers

The Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has debunked the report claiming that the Federal Government has released suspected sponsors of Boko Haram.

Malami noted that none of the suspected sponsors of terrorism in the country have been released by any court since their detention.

This is coming after reports emerged claiming that some of the suspects in custody have been released on the order of the minister.
