UNGA: Nigeria Has Recorded More Success In Fighting Terrorism - Buhari

The Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari on Friday revealed how he built hospitals across the country following the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country.

President Buhari disclosed this while speaking at the world leaders at the ongoing 76th United Nations General Assembly, UNGA, in New York.

The President stated that despite the effect of the outbreak of the virus on the economy, his administration was able to build medical facilities across the country to curtail the virus.

He added that his government has trained over 40,000 health care workers on the prevention of infections.

He said, “In addition, over 40,000 health care workers have recently been trained on Infection, Prevention and Control measure with the support of various partners. Through the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, we have established 16 infectious disease treatment centres located within our Teaching Hospitals and Federal Medical Centres.”

“We built isolation centres and emergency hospital wards in record time all over the country. We carry out genomic sequencing in designated laboratories across the country to detect variants in circulation.”

In a related development, President Muhammadu Buhari disclosed that the recovery and return of looted funds have the potential to provide resources that will develop the country.

He explained that combating illicit financial flows and ensuring the recovery and return of illicitly acquired assets will provide more funds in this era of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
