Outrage As NYSC Advise Corpers Travelling On High-Risk Roads To Prepare Ransom Money

A photo of the National Youth Service Corps advising serving corps members to prepare money for ransom if they get abducted while travelling on the high-risk road has surfaced on social media.

Some information on the new and updated NYSC handbook shared online read:

e. When travelling on high risks roads such as Abuja-Kaduna, Abuja -Lokoja- Okene or Aba- Port -Harcourt roads, then alert your family members, friends and colleagues, in order to have someone on hand to pay off the ransom that could be demanded

f. Be at your guards in your immediate environment and remain suspicious all the time. While moving within the urban centres avoid isolated rads. Take only basic requirements, while travelling. Do not accept the offer of a lift to unfamiliar places. Dress moderately while on journey especially by road. Delete all financial or business transactions from communications gadgets such as Ipad or handsets.

g. Identify secure places such as police stations /posts or Road safety posts or military barracks or even hospitals along your routes.

h. Identify the dangerous points along your routes including sharp bends, tight curves or railway crossing that block your views from seeing far front or back.

This information has stirred reactions as many social media users condemned the scheme for putting out such frightening information to corp members.
