Niger Republic People Will Defend Me If Nigerians Disturb Me - Buhari Makes Revelation Six Days Before Handing Over

Given that it is usual to see most politicians hustle to be in the good graces of the President of the Federal Republic, a lot of Nigerians would ordinarily wish to know the political actor who has caught President Muhammadu Buhari’s attention.

This came to the fore on Tuesday when the President, in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed that he has been following a former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, with keen interest.

Naija News reports that Buhari stated this in a letter felicitating with the Senator currently representing Imo West on his 59th birthday, scheduled for tomorrow.

Buhari’s letter reads, “Accept my warm greetings on your 59th birthday, heralded by years of achievements, most significantly the contributions to nation-building.

“I have followed, with keen interest, your visionary leadership style, political tendencies, and development strides, both in the private and public sectors, and fully note your penchant for always fighting for the wellbeing of the less privileged.

“I commend the Rochas Foundation, your charity organization, which continues to inspire and touch lives across the nation, without ethnic, religious or political coloration.

“On your 59th birthday, I join members of our political party, All Progressives Party (APC), to wish you well on your journey of service to the nation and humanity.’’

This newspaper had earlier reported Okorocha as urging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to zone its 2023 presidential ticket to the South, arguing that it’s only logical and sensible for the APC to do this since the North has already enjoyed its turn.
