How I Survived Gunmen Attack In Anambra - Ifeanyi Ubah

The governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party in the forthcoming Anambra State Election, Ifeanyi Ubah, had pleaded with the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to allow the polls go ahead.

Senator Ubah (YPP-Anambra South) warned that there would be troubled if the Nnamdi Kanu-led group stop election from holding in the state.

He told BBC Pidgin on Monday that stakeholders are willing to talk to IPOB members to allow the election go ahead.

Ubah said, “We will talk to our brothers – the IPOB people, they should not say no election because if they say so, they will be imposing something we don’t want.

“So, we have to tell them the importance. We know they have power but let them pipe down for us to do this election because if we don’t do this election proper, there will be trouble. Anambra is the head of Igbo Nation.

Naija News reports that major contenders in the Anambra state governors election include; Senator Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress, APC; Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA and Ifeanyi Uba of the YPP.

Recall that IPOB had consistently threatened that it would not allow elections hold in the southeast until the federal government conducts a referendum to determine if Igbos want to remain in Nigeria.

This calls by the proscribed group was followed by daring attacks on offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and security agents.

Though, IPOB has always insisted that it is not behind the attacks.
