Police React To RCCG Pastor’s Killing, Issues Fresh Directive To Ogun Churches

The Ebonyi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed it killed two suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network, ESN.

Naija News reports that the operation was confirmed in a statement signed by the Assistant Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Levi Philips.

It was gathered that the suspects were gunned down at their hideout in Ugwulangwu, in the Onicha Local Government Area of the state.

This reportedly follows a tip-off received on which a team of officers acted upon and trailed some of the hoodlums to their hideout.

In a gun duel with the hoodlums upon arrival at the said location, the police successfully killed one Ikwe Maduabuchi, 25, and another, Onyekachi John, 28.

Philips said their bodies had been deposited at the Alex-Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki mortuary.

He said, “The incident happened around 3 pm on Thursday. Items recovered from them include two AK-47 rifles, 40 rounds of live ammunition, two locally-made improvised explosive devices and some charms.

“Efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Aliyu, has assured residents of the state of their safety as they go about their normal business,” the statement noted.

This is coming barely a week after the Imo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force killed a commander of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) in the state.

The police in a statement made available to newsmen said it killed the IPOB/ESN leader after receiving intelligence that the agitators are isolated in an uncompleted building situated in a valley in Amaifeke in Orlu LGA of Imo.

The report alleged that the group were planning to resume terror attacks on police and the government.
