It Is Enough: Ilana Omo Odua Tackles Olajengbesi For Resigning As Igboho's Lawyer

The federal government of Nigeria has declared that it won’t immediately pay the ₦20b awarded against it by the court over the invasion of Sunday Igboho’s residence by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Instead, the federal government revealed that it was going to appeal the decision of the high court in Ibadan, Oyo State which handed down the ruling.

This was made known on Friday by the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN).

Naija News recalls the Oyo state high court sitting in Ibadan had on Friday, ordered the federal government to pay Igboho the sum of ₦20billion.

According to the court order, the sum is for damages caused by the invasion of his Ibadan residence by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on July 1.

The order was given by Justice Ladiran Akintola who said the invasion by the secret police was illegal and prejudiced.

However, Malami has now come out to say the court ruling will be appealed.

The AGF made the decision known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Friday.

In a similar development, the Department of State Services has reacted to the judgment of the Oyo State High Court directing it to pay the sum ₦20 billion to Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho.

The secret police on Friday disclosed that it has not been served the judgment directing it to pay Igboho over damages of his residence during an invasion of his property.

Meanwhile, the umbrella body of the Yoruba self-determination Group, Ilana Omo Oodua, has called on the Department of State Services to pay N20 billion damages to a Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Igboho.

Reacting to the ruling in a statement by its spokesperson, Maxwell Adeleye, Ilana Oodua described it as a victory of light over illegalities.
