A Kenyan mother has been left in tears after Hyenas attacked and killed her two children.

The disturbing incident reportedly happened in Baisa, a village in Kinango, Kwale County.

Naija News learnt that Mulongo Tsimba was away from her home when the wild animals attacked the children.

The victims, Lugo Nyale (2) and Mbodze Nyawa (1) were reportedly attacked while sleeping in their mother’s apartment about 9:30am on Tuesday, September 14.

Tsimba according to reports was burning charcoal few meters away from the house, only to return home and find her children in the mouth of the Hyenas.

Kinango sub-county police commander, Fred Ombaka, who confirmed the incident said Tsimba tried to defend her children from the wild animals but to no avail.

While seeking help from the nearest neighbours to rescue the children, the hyenas had already killed the two and fed on their brains.

Naija News understands that the angry residents who responded to the cry of Tsimba’s help descended on the hyenas and managed to kill one, while the other disappeared in the bush.

Chengoni sub-chief, Jackson Chengo said two residents, Kalu Chiti,21, Mutuku Mutinda, 64, and the children’s mother sustained serious body bruises. The three are currently receiving treatment at Samburu sub-county hospital.

“In total, the animals have injured seven people in the past two days,” said Mr Chengo.

The bodies of the two children were taken to Kinango Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

The hyena carcass was sent to the KWS vet laboratory for further examination.
