A popular cyclist, identified as Afolabi Mabogunje, has reportedly died days after he was stabbed in the neck by armed robbers in Lagos.

A close friend of the deceased named Seun Oloketuyi who used to be a cyclist until four months ago narrated how Afolabi was attacked and robbed at Shodex in Anthony.

According to Seun, Afolabi’s jugular vein was breached which led to his transfer to Luth or Lasuth for surgery leading to his death as he never came out of coma.

Sharing photos of late Afolabi, he wrote; “So I lost a very close cyclist friend of mine today. We did all the crazy circuits day and night. I can’t remember many rides in Lagos without him. Last Thursday, he was attacked at Shodex (our meet up point) in Anthony by robbers.

“What did they expect to get from a cyclist? 🤷🏿‍♂️He was st*bbed in the neck. He was a tough guy. He had the wherewithal to cycle back to Gbagada general whilst putting pressure on the bleeding vein. Attempts to stop the bleeding was unsuccessful. His wife (a doctor) and others attended to him.

“They both joked that I had retired to ilisan because I stoped cycling 4 months ago. The jugular vein had been breached. He was transferred to Luth or Lasuth for surgery. He never came out of c*ma. He gave up the ghost today. Rip Mabogs aka Afolabi Mabogunje. This Naija no safe anytime of the day.”  The man behind is the deceased.
