I’m Really Sad Fani-Kayode Joined APC – Ojudu

A Presidential aide, Babafemi Ojudu, has expressed sadness over the defection of former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News earlier reported that the former minister officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling APC.

Fani-Kayode, whose move to the APC did not come as a surprise to many, met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa on Thursday.

He was brought to the Villa by the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the APC, and governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni.

In a post via his Facebook page on Thursday, Ojudu described Thursday as the saddest in his political career following Fani-Kayode’s defection into the APC.

The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters added that he is unhappy after the former minister joined the ruling party.

He also shared a previous tweet by the former minister where he said he would rather die than join APC.

“This is the saddest day of my political career,” Ojudu wrote.

Meanwhile, Fani-Kayode has stated that his battles against President Buhari in 2015 was only political.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Fani-Kayode noted that he never stated that he is an angel or he is a devil, but Nigeria is fighting a war that needs everyone to be united.

The former minister stated that today’s main issue is not about Buhari or about him but about helping poor Nigerians.

“I am not the first to defect from a political party. Do all other defectors take back what they say?

“Now is a time to work with Buhari to move the nation forward,” he said.

Fani-Kayode commended that Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State for uniting the APC, stating that he would not have joined the ruling party if not for Buni.

He added that people should be treated fairly, adding that Nigerians shouldn’t fight each other on religion and ethnic grounds.

The minister however warned that he won’t attack the PDP until they try to attack him.

He also dismissed reports that he left the PDP for financial gains, stressing that he is a very rich man and would have left the PDP if he was looking for money.
