FC Barcelona manager, Ronald Koeman, has reacted to his side’s defeat to Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening.

Naija News reports that the German football club had some fun at the Camp Nou yesterday, thrashing the home team to 0-3 in their 2021/2022 UEFA Champions League group match opener.

The Catalans’ manager in an interview after the match, said he could not put blames on the players.

Koeman admits the game was a “very difficult define to accept. The Spanish club manager said there was a big difference in quality between the two teams.

He said: “There were only three strikers available.

“Tactically there were moments in which we were in control. Bayern’s game is in the middle third and you have to fill [the gaps] there. It is what it is for the time being. I cannot complain about the attitude, but there is a difference in quality.

“They a team that as a group have been together for a long time and also have a bench that has improved.”

Naija News understands that Koeman had in his squad against Munich a host of youngsters including Gavi, Alex Balde, Oscar Mingueza, Pedri and Yusuf Demir.

The 58-year-old Dutchman is, however, hopeful that things will get better with time as the youngsters mature.

We have many young players who in two or three years will be better,” Koeman said.

He added: “It is very difficult to accept it, but we have to wait for things to improve and players to recover from their injuries.

“It is what it is, we have to spend a few weeks like this because later we are going to get players like Aguero, Dembele and Ansu Fati back.”

Meanwhile, Premier League club, Manchester United also suffered a defeat to Young Boys in their first Champions League group match on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils were beaten 2-1 by the Swiss club, Naija News reports.
