Breaking: Sheikh Gumi's Aide Alleges Those Behind Kuje Prison Attack

Following the Farmers-herders clashes in the country, controversial Islamic scholar, Sheik Ahmad Gumi has visited Igboho town in Oyo State.

The popular cleric has been in the news this week, asking the Federal Government to grant amnesty to bandit terrorists and stop the military operations in Zamfara State.

During his visit to the town at the weekend, Gumi called on Yoruba Nation agitators to shelve their agitation for secession, adding that Nigerians need to live together.

The Islamic scholar added that he cannot see anything that warrants people to agitate that they should be separated from Nigeria.

Gumi was accompanied by the former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Usman Yusuf.

He said: “This is a place where I think Nigerians need to understand that we need to live together. Because I have seen nothing here that can warrant people to agitate that they should be separated from our beloved country Nigeria.

“This is Igboho, made famous by a detainee in Benin Republic.

“Nigeria is one and will always remain one. We are just from the hinterland (referring to Ilesha-Baruba in Baruten local government area of Kwara State), where we have seen examples of how people should live.

“And this is why we are here. Nigeria is our country, and we are working to see how we can all come together all faiths. We don’t want the kind of poisoned Nigeria by Igboho.

“And people saying Nigeria is divided. No. It is the elites that are diving Nigeria, not the common people. The common people are all the same.”
