The Federal Government has opened a portal to provide local jobs to experienced and non-experienced job seekers.

Naija News reports that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government scheme is targeting to employ only 200,000 graduates.

The Nigeria Jubilee Fellow Programme was announced last week and only graduates who have completed the compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) will benefit from the scheme.

Among other requirements to qualify, applicants for possible selection into the programme are expected to have excellent time management and a professional attitude, good verbal and written communication skills.

Naija News reports that the portal was opened on Monday, September 6 and registration will last through October 20, 2021. The Nigeria Jubilee Fellow Programme is a youth empowerment partnership initiative between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Talented graduates who scale through the selection process would be provided with local job opportunities that apply their expertise while equipping them with world-class practical knowledge and relevant skills.

The scheme also provides applicants with three options for applicants after completing the fellowship which includes retainment with respective host organisations, entrepreneurship opportunities, and a platform to compete and access future jobs and employment opportunities.

A statement on the job portal reads: “The programme will serve all of Nigeria – from North to South and East to West – ensuring that organisations and youth from all corners of the country can participate.”

How to apply for Nigeria Jubilee Fellow Programme

An interested applicant for the Nigeria Jubilee Fellow must be a Nigerian citizen and a fresh graduate (Bachelor’s Degree) from any discipline and graduate no earlier than 2017.

Applicants must graduate with at least a Second Class Lower (2.2) and above and must be at most 30 years old.

The applicants must not be currently engaged in any employment and would have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or have a certificate of exemption.

Other requirements are: applicants must demonstrate interest/commitment in the chosen career field and also demonstrate interest/commitment to contributing to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
