Portuguese international, Cristiano Ronaldo has been officially recognized by the Guinness World Record as the male player with the most goals in international football competitions.

The player showed off his certificate on his Instagram account after it was presented to him by the organization.

Naija News reports Ronaldo achieved the amazing individual feat after scoring his 111th international goal during his country’s FIFA World Cup qualifying game against Ireland on Wednesday, September 1.

He scored two goals in the game as his team went on to win the match.

Ronaldo was recognized for his feat which he achieved between 2003 and 2021 as seen on the certificate.

”Thank you to the Guiness World Records. Always good to be recognized as a world record breaker. Let’s keep trying to set the numbers even higher” an obviously happy Ronaldo wrote on his Instagram account as he posed with the framed certificate.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has retaken the number 7 shirt on his return to Manchester United.

Naija News reports that the club confirmed this on Thursday evening.

Recall that the former Real Madrid attacker wore the jersey during his first spell at Old Trafford from 2003 to 2009, before moving to Spain to join Los Blancos.

During his first spell he netted 118 goals in 292 appearances, winning nine trophies, including three Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.
